Tor.com has a lot of downloadable short stories on audio. The latest to catch my eye is an SF novelette written (and read?) by Brandon Sanderson!
This was Sanderson’s first published work. The Tor.com email newsletter describes it as…
“out-and-out science fiction… SF like it used to be.”

It’s not Brandon’s first published work. He’s published a few novels and is finishing the last book in Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. It’s Brandon’s first published work of “out-and-out science fiction” is what they’re saying–because his other work has all been fantasy, or, one presumes, SF tinged with fantasy. I don’t know, I would have called his story in Asimov’s “out-and-out science fiction,” but that’s besides the point.
