There was a copy of this, probably that copy, on ebay about a month ago, told a friend to put in a high bid because I was out of town,no internet, he couldn’t figure out how to spell Lovecraft OR Roddy correctly, totally missed it. I’m still super pissed, never seen another copy.
They show up from time to time, but you’re right they are rather rare.
Roddy sure had a presence. Listened to the Outsider and he does an excellent job. Well worth the listen and he evokes the horror of the story
It rather shocks me to realise that it was this recording that serv’d as my introduction to the weird fiction of E’ch-Pi-El! I had this record when I was a kid. I’ve always insisted that my introduction to Lovecraft came when I was in Ireland in 1972, during which time I was corresponding with Robert Bloch. I found, in a wee used book shop, a copy of ye Panther Horror paperback, THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK AND OTHERS, and I was delighted to see that Lovecraft had dedicated the title story to my pal, Bloch. I love Roddy’s readings of Lovecraft, they are delightful and unique.
